So, it was Serial and now it's Black Mirror. How does entertainment become so hyped? (I finally watched Scandal, at least the eons old pilot, this week and was so not into it.) I won't say what caused the prime minister to barf in this bathroom so as not to ruin the surprise if you, too, get sucked into watching Black Mirror, but I will say that this is one of cases where the reaction might be justified and that an American show wouldn't go that direction. Black Mirror is not at all what I expected from something described as UK sci fi.
Also, allow me to reprint a nymag.com comment from an article touting the show's "frightening excellence" that's hilarious in that I can't recall anything being derided as Gen X in at least a decade.
i wanted to like it, but it feels like so much dreary gen x nihilist "i told you so"ing: kind of a dramatic version of a depressive believing their grim view of the world to be the only accurate one.
