The Age of Love Handles

Lest you think I only criticize “fat dudes” while never offering positive alternatives, it’s only because I’m given little opportunity. Case in point, last night’s outrageous Entourage plotline (cause you know the show is completely based in reality) where Turtle actually thinks he’s too good for a hefty middle aged blind date, described in the episode guide as “twice his age, not to mention twice his size” Uh, don’t think so on either count. But in an inexplicable twist of fate, Turtle ends up with the “hot” cougar, non-fat but still frightening Lisa Rinna.

I couldn’t help but notice the overly ample character Jezebel from Meadowlands. It’s too soon to know what to make of her or the newish series. (It’s kind of kooky for the sake of being so, but I felt the same way about Six Feet Under initially and it grew on me.) She not only thinks she’s the town beauty but so do the townsfolk, which is made bizarre by the fact that she must be at least 225 pounds. I have absolutely no idea where this storyline is going since but so far it’s a change to see a hefty girl who’s not outcast chick or butt of jokes chick or even sassy wise-cracking chick. Delusional, crazy chick? Perhaps.

In fact, she brought the semi-autistic, hot emo-teen next door out of his shell, causing him to speak for the first time in four months with a declaration of “you’re beautiful,” though it looks like he’s going to hook up with her mom that he’s been spying on. The Age of Love couldn’t be more timely (or grotesque—too bad it competes with Hell’s Kitchen for my Monday night fix of retarded reality).

To temper my old man Garret Dillahunt mention from earlier this week, I present you with Harry Treadaway. He not only plays irresistible autistics, but also was a glam-punk conjoined twin in Brothers of the Head and will be Joy Division’s drummer, Steve Morris in the upcoming Control.
