I meant to mention that The Bridge isn't just a rich source of vomit scenes. There's also a lot of cunnilingus–if two incidents counts as a lot–which appears to be having a pop culture moment. (There has also been some very un-sexy naked inappropriateness between Franka Potente and a teenage boy, but that's something else completely.)
The act certainly served as a plot point in Orange Is the New Black, though it was kind of played for humor. Such is the confusion for a show that's hard to pigeonhole as comedy or drama.
House of Cards too, now that I'm thinking about the made-for-Netflix series.
Last night I accidentally watched the premiere of You're the Worst, which contained a few amusing moments like the sex scene involving the quote I had not expected to hear on TV, "Did you spit on my vagina?" even though it hit one of my hot buttons with a character referred to as "Fat Lindsay" who wasn't fat (not skinny≠fat). Maybe that's why it was supposed to be funny or why the characters are supposed to be the worst? (And when I went looking for tweets about how awesome/frightening Frank Potente is on The Bridge, I found one implying she was plump. One doesn't have to look hard for these things.)
Am I mistaken or was women receiving rather than giving oral sex not a source of film ratings apprehension as recently as, I don't know, six months ago? If I were smarter, I would spin this into a think piece on the rise of on-screen female oral sex portrayals rather than my typical hodgepodge. I'm waiting for it on The Cut.
