Upon my second interaction with a 40something woman two decades into Williamsburging who used "retarded" in our first conversation about being pushed out of the neighborhood, she used retarded again in the same context. It wasn't until she said Puerto Rican food was "gross" that I got offended.
Because I don't even have the attention span to write two sentences, I was reading an interview with Kathernie Boo while attemping to post this. The first comment:
"Incredibly insightful article however I am distraught at the author’s use of 'mentally retarded' in the first section of the article. That is absolutely shameful and not politically correct."
